[kasabian] [48:13] [na tour] [planning]

This May Kasabian announced their north america tour dates.  by tour it said and there were only 10 gigs covering east coast, canada, and west coast.  Considering how big north america is, i would say their management or whoever arranged this really did not give a shit about if the band made it to america. (lol)  But thanks to the small amount of gigs they played, i can now say im the most hardcore fan who attended 40% of their gigs this tour.  With that high of percentage, I probably could get the band dedicate a song to me very very soon.

The planning started with the ticket presale.  For some reason I was convinced that these tickets were going to sell out fast so I needed to get my hands on those presale as soon as they confirmed the date.  It was the first encounter for me to witness the infamous failing management the band had because they even confused themselves with the actual pre-sale date on official published website.  And I remembered they later linked the wrong URL on ticket links, and newbie like me had to scroll down to the bottom where people can comment with their facebook account, and found the actual links provided by experienced fans.  With a bit of nerve-wrecking buying experience, I finally got tickets for those four gigs I was planning to go, and of course I soon realized they were not going to sell out anytime soon.  But I think it was a good thing that I acted like a psycho refreshing my ticket page every 10 second before they went on sale, because that really gave me a little sense of being part of “Kasabian is big!!!” concert experience, which is almost impossible to get in particularly in north america if you are not 14 years old.  And believe me, there’s no hell in anyway I want to be an 14 year-old ever again.

Here were four gigs I was planning on going: Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and Chicago.  I was struggling a little about Boston since it’s on a Friday, and it means I would have to take time off to get there.  Would it be worth it to fly all the way to Boston and see a band that I could not brag about and had people becoming minions for me in the future?  The answer was almost like a 2 second doubt and YES.  I also read that the venue Paradise Rock Club is a tiny venue with only 900 people capacity, and it would also be the first show they start in the states.  With not so much hesitation I decided I would go to Boston, but of course all these rationales were happening way after I already bought my ticket, because that’s just the way we roll.

I booked my flights to Boston a month before the show and got in touch with Pam who was super kind and nice to spare her time with me when I got to Boston and let me follow her home to creep on their cats.  Amanda helped with the lodging in New York and D.C. so I basically just acted like a jerk walking around east coast I think.  I was debating if I should go to Chicago because it totally did not make sense for me travelling to 15 hours away Boston to see Kasabian and not going to Chicago which was the closest city to me.  Then I saw them in Chicago and that was probably the best show of all four.

I was planning on spending some money on merch but I only managed to get a $5 wristband because I was not anticipating their merch sold out in Chicago.  It looked like I was a bad fan had very little confidence in their popularity in the states. (lol)
